SHADOW CHILD - SO HIGH (HOT SINCE 82 REMIX)

Holy shit this is my first post in a long time. I heard this track today and 100% had to share it. This track has groove. It has soul. It makes you wanna move. It's really everything a good house track should be. I know this is pretty short for my first post in so long, but this is one where I really just wanna let the music speak for itself. Buy it on Beatport.

SCHOOLBOY Q - HANDS ON THE WHEEL (NIGHTMARE! NIGHTATON BOOTLEG)

I caught wind of this track in MiniMaxx's latest mixtape "Moombah Ain't Dead" (post of that coming later) and it really stood out to me. I hate to use such an overplayed term, but this track just oozes with swag. It starts off mellow and sort of ethereal before landing on a sweet, laid-back groove that just exudes cool and perfectly compliments the vocals. While I'm on the vocals, I love them. Nightmare! only took the vocals from the chorus for this bootleg and it was a good decision. It just works so fucking well. And then after disarming you with its initial chillness, the track smacks in you face with Moombah right at 1:45 and the party gets started. Even better is when it transitions flawlessly back to the vocals and laid-back tone without dropping a step. Check this out, and be on the lookout for the above mentioned "Moombah Ain't Dead" mixtape later today.

JOHN DAHLBACK - ZEUS

If one thing is certain with John Dahlback songs, it's that you truly do not know what you are going to hear. One second this track is spitting some fiery electro funk and the next a gentle melody is building up. Great unique sound here as always from Mr. Dahlback. This track is a monster. Check it out. Grab it on Beatport. Peace.

MARK POMPEO & KEVIN KOBILINSKI - DAY (PREVIEW)

Hey everyone! I'm very proud and excited to bring you this preview of my new track "Day" with Kevin Kobilinski! It's a bright, poppy progressive house tune with warm melodies and sounds to close out the summer. I really enjoyed making this because I never did anything in this kind of style before. Very fun to branch out and expand my sound repertoire beyond the darker, heavier stuff I've done previously. Please enjoy, and stay tuned for the full song!

MICHAEL TEIXEIRA, ANDY CALDWELL - SING IT BACK

Michael Teixeira sent me his new track with Andy Caldwell, and it's quite wonderful. Smooth vocals. A happy little melody. I especially love the part at about 1:37 where the guitar comes in. Very nice. Check it out!

HOW ARMIN VAN BUUREN SYNCS MUSIC AND VISUALS LIVE

I just wanted to post this video real quick of Armin van Buuren showing his DJ setup and how he and touring VJ sync of the visuals with the music on the fly. There is a disturbing trend of DJs prerecording sets or playing the exact same set every show. They try to justify this by saying it's the only way to synchronize with the light show, and this video shows why that is basically a load of crap. You go Armin.

SANDER VAN DOORN - KANGAROO

I really can't believe this is Sander Van Doorn. There really is nothing this guy can't do. One of the best trance producers (and IMO the best trance DJ) on the planet just made one of the best electro tracks of the year. It's got a classic Sander melody during the break, but then unleashes a furious storm of blips and bleeps that'll give your grandma a heart attack. You do not wanna miss this one. Take a listen above, and buy it on Beatport!

DEPECHE MODE - ENJOY THE SILENCE (SHATO & PAULROCKSEEK BOOTLEG)

I haven't heard a remix of Depeche Mode in quite some time, and it's good to hear a new version of one of their tracks pop up. This is a really nice trancey progressive house track and it's an outstanding tribute to a really pioneering band. The original song is woven in perfectly and somehow a few very random, very brief dubby pieces fit right in there too. Enjoy!

NEW MUSE SINGLE INCORPORATES DUBSTEP ELEMENTS

So "Madness" is the new single from UK rock band Muse, and it's certainly an interesting little experiment. The song features some dubstep-style wobbles under the vocals to cover the bassline, and it's interesting to see those types of noises used in such a subtle, artistic fashion rather than the annoying, in-your-face, womp-womp-womp-ness that we get from straight dubstep tracks. Check it out and share your thoughts!

ELECTRIC ZOO SET TIMES ANNOUNCED

What's up everyone? Earlier today, Electric Zoo posted the set times for this year's festival and fans can now go on the website and create their own personal schedule! I'll be there Saturday Sept. 1st, and I have to say I'm pretty pleased that there aren't too many conflicts between artists that I want to see! Should be a lot less running around than last year lol. My day will start nice and early on the main stage to see my friend DJ Eco and will probably end at the Sunday School tent to see Chris Liebing. Gonna be a great time! You can check out the set times and make your own schedule here. Feel free to share your schedules and who you're most excited for in the comments!

UMEK - CORRIDOR TO JUNGLE

Umek is back with something big here! This track exudes groove from every little nook and cranny. Everything jigsaw puzzles together really well on this track from the bouncy bass line to the rather happy, sing-songy little lead to the intricate percussion patterns. It's simultaneously deep but light and whimsical almost. Very unique sound. Check it out and scoop it off Beatport.

SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT (E-BONIT BOOTLEG)

There are so many great things about this song I'm not quite sure where to start. It's dark, yet groovy. It's infectious and grimy and complex. It feels like it has weight and depth...lots of layers for your ears to absorb. It's also quite amazing how Kurt Cobain's voice can still give chills after all these cheers and translates so well to an adaptation like this. I'm not sure if this is even the right page, but here apparently is E-bonit's Facebook. Not much there unfortunately, so I can't tell you much about him. Check out the song though. It's dope.

NEW DILLON FRANCIS AND JACK BEATS

This track is montstrous. A pretty mild intro and build segues into some bleepy, wobbly, bendy, electro awesomeness. Dillon Francis has really grown and is proving to be one of the biggest breakout stars this year. He's also a really funny guy. Give the track and listen, and grab a copy off Beatport. Enjoy!

PROMO - THE CORRUPT WILL DESTRUCT

Now here's a track I am really loving right now. This is some top notch moombahton. It's got a good bounce to it, a seriously wild and crazy beat, and awesomely samples Cypress Hill's "Rock Superstar". Just fantastic on all fronts. I'm too tired from work to write anymore right now. So just check it out and enjoy!

LAIDBACK LUKE, ANGGER DIMAS - NIGHT LIKE THIS (PREVIEW)

Laidback Luke is back and this time he's teamed up with Indonesian electro-master Angger Dimas and vocalist Polina to deliver a real monster. The vocals are smooth and wispy, almost ethereal at times. The break's vocals and melodies then lead into a big, buzzy, screaming, bleepy electro drop that will light a fire under your ass and get your energy going. This preview is ripped straight from Laidback Luke's Club FG set from last month, and I can't wait to hear the full track. Give it a listen and be on the lookout for this monster track.

THE ISLAND OF AMAROK (DRASEN & AROL MASHUP)

My oh my is this a good mashup. "Amarok" is a really good song on its own, but those vocals from "The Island" really elevate it to another level. You know a mashup is something special when it doesn't even sound like a mashup, when the songs are such perfect compliments that someone who doesn't know either original track would never guess that it's a mashup. And that's exactly what we have here. Enjoy!

TWO NEW REMIXES FROM HUGE EUGE

Hey everyone. My buddy Eugene Veltman, a.k.a. Huge Euge, is back with two killer new remixes! In general, Euge has been on a tear lately. Winning the Richard Durand vs. The World North America Competition, spinning at some of the best clubs in NYC including Pacha, and now these two fantastic tracks. In Eugene's own words, "I was once on my path to becoming a brain surgeon. Now I am blowing the minds of anyone who will listen." I couldn't put it any better myself. Both of these remixes are for contests on Beatport so make sure to vote!

This first remix of Sander Van Doorn's "Chasin" is exactly what a good remix should be. It highlights the best parts of the original track and then warps it into something different and distinct and unique. Euge flaunts the familiar melodies and notes of "Chasin" at us, puts on them on string right in front of us and teases us with them in the just the right way for the right amount of time and then yanks them away to hit us with a distorted, grizzled electro monster of a beat.

VOTE HERE for Sander Van Doorn - Chasin (Huge Euge Remix)

Next up is his remix for Zedd feat. Matthew Koma - "Spectrum" which is absolutely off the wall. I've got to go bold here and say this is the kind of high-quality remix I'd expect to here from the likes of Hardwell. Seriously, if I didn't know this was Huge Euge and had to guess who did the remix, Hardwell would probably be my guess. It's got that kind of style to it, which is very impressive. The way this drop hits after the whole mellow, melodic break down is so expertly executed, and the entire song is just a well-crafted vessel of joy for your ears. So give both of the tracks a listen and be sure to rock that vote to help Huge Euge on his rise to the top.

FINNEBASSEN - TOUCHING ME

I don't enjoy deep house, but this song is just that good. It's very relaxed yet somehow funky. The vocals are pretty lovely also. I'm a little not sober right now and don't feel like writing anymore right now so just check it out and enjoy!

UMMET OZCAN - THE BOX

Wow. What can I say about this track. Mind-blowing and breathtaking? Ok breathtaking may be too strong or just not the right word. Let's just say this track does seem to keep you on your toes. It's a pretty masterful structure where each new section brings something interesting and unique to the mix in a pretty impressive fashion. Ummet Ozcan is a producer from Netherlands, originally born in Turkey, known for large scale epic trance creations. This one has a bit more progressive house style to it and some clear electro elements, but grand and epic are still two words that come to mind here. Absolutely check this one out and scoop it up off Beatport ASAP!

To no one's surprise, Paris Hilton has turned out to be a horrible, awful DJ. Afrojack should be ashamed of himself for trying to help this trashy, talentless whore. Miami New Times, did a brutally honest review of her horrendous debut show and how bad it was, including videos. Please someone stop this trainwreck before it moves any further. ADRIEN MEZSI RADIO FG PODCAST AND BOOTLEG PACK

This here is the latest Radio FG podcast from Adrien Mezsi, and he uses it to show off a bunch of his new bootlegs including some from his latest bootleg pack. Some of these mash-ups he did are really great. In particular, I really enjoy the second and third tracks in the mix "Bang Your Head Alone" and "End of the Troll". The back and forth contrast between the melodic vocal parts with the heavy hitting electro drops is really great and really gets the energy going. It also doesn't hurt that he weaved in the "Call it what you wanna call it, I'm a fucking alcoholic" from Tim Berg's "Alcoholic" which is always pretty awesome. So definitely give this mix a listen and check out the tracklist below for the songs. Also below is a link where you can go download the bootleg pack from Adrien's Facebook. Enjoy!

ICE ICE BABY (DJ HAIPA REMIX)

Hey guys. I stumbled across this remix of "Ice Ice Baby" the other day and found myself really surprised at how well it works. DJ Haipa does a really good job of not letting the cheesiness of the original drag this remix down and the results are pretty impressive. He didn't go the really commercial route with it which is what I was expecting before taking a listen. It's got this funky, techy sort of bassline and a subtle but groovy lead. This is all accompanied by some crisp percussive elements and some nice spontaneous flourishes of little blips and beeps that compliment everything really well. All in all, it's a really fun, groovy little track that'll get your head bobbing and butt shaking. And the cherry on top is that DJ Haipa was nice enough to give this away for free. Enjoy!

ARMY OF BASTARDS MIXTAPE

Vato Gonzalez comes at us with a new mixtape and man is it raging. This mixtape has an interesting concept too. It was created exclusively with songs by unknown underground artists from the Vatogonzalez.com online community, which I think is a great idea. It's awesome to see someone with notoriety take the time to really give some unknowns a chance to shine and gain exposure. As someone who falls into the small-time producer category himself, it takes on some extra special meaning. Anyways, do not miss out on this. Listen to it. Download it. Spread the word to all your friends. Tracklist below.

01. Vato Gonzalez - Army of Bastards (Anthem) [BEATPORT EXCLUSIVE: JULY 9]
02. Martin Garrix & Sleazy Stereo - ITSA
03. Averez - Shuffler
04. Backcornerz - Njuta
05. Asic & Hugs - Sibersk
06. Olivier Heldens - Topaz
07. Laëro - Transition
08. Colin E - Birdhous
09. Martin Garrix & Kenneth G - Mute
10. Volts - Piranha
11. Sleazy Stereo - Pump it up
12. Chris Decent ft. James Stefano - She Rocks
13. D-Velro - Carolina
14. Ricos - Just a beat
15. Mark Koster - Symphonica
16. Bonzer - Comienzo
17. Robby East ft. Roy Wong - Essential (Flair Brothers Bootleg)
18. Charles Deluxe - Harmor (Corbino edit)

FLEXX

Wolfgang Gartner, in my opinion, has the most raw production talent of anyone in the game today. This new track of his, released just last week, shows off some of those chops. He flawlessly transitions between more melodic parts and the electro grooves that most people know him for. You would do very well to give this track a listen, and go buy it on Beatport.

MOLLY

Hello everybody. Here's a little something to get your Saturday night started. I still think the original version of this track is fucking stupid, and I still hate the vocals. But ReepR's beat on this remix makes me forget all of that and just want to rage. Seriously good work here. Enjoy!

NUCLEAR SEASONS (MICHAEL BRUN REMIX)

Got a big, big track here from Michael Brun. Great structure. Great incorporation of the vocals. My only complaint here is I would've liked to hear that big, fat fucking bassline from the intro featured on the main beat for something darker and dirtier rather than going with a melodic lead. Nonetheless, all around excellent production. Released today, June 15th, on Asylum Record, but Michael was awesome enough to give a free download! Grab your copy from the Soundcloud player above or you can also download it from his Facebook page. Enjoy!

GLOWING IN THE DARK

What's up folks? Just got this preview from Adrien Mezsi, and man am I digging the sound of this. This drop is a real killer and I really like the melody during the break. The build is very well constructed too the way it creates tension before screeching to a halt before hitting us with the main beat. No word on a release date for the full track. Enjoy!

INTERGALACTIC

In honor of the late Adam Yauch, we have a new remix of the Beastie Boys "Intergalactic". Filip Le Frick 'refricked' this track in good style using lots of the original track and segueing into a tight electro beat. Enjoy!

SENDING MY LOVE VS. TONIGHT

Big, big, big bomb ass bootleg from R3hab that he released through his Facebook. The two tracks work really well together and it makes for one great ride all the way through. I'm a little confused by the name because I thought the name of the Axwell & Ingrosso track the vocals are from was called "Together" not "Tonight". Regardless you should check this out. This one just one a few bootlegs he released as part of his EDC 2012 Bootleg Pack which I've also given the link to. Enjoy!

NIGHT

Hey guys! I finished this a while back and posted a preview, but now want to share with you the full version. This is my trance song "Night" produced in collaboration with Kevin Kobilinski. It's melodic with dark, tense undertones, and I hope you enjoy it! Post some feedback too!

MICHAEL BRUN MAY 2012 MIXTAPE

Hot new mixtape from Michael Brun. This features an exclusive first look at his latest remix for Batawi's "Bring the Fun" and includes his latest release "Synergy" on Phazing Records. I like this guys mixing style a lot because it's similar to my own. He doesn't change the song every 1-2 minutes like some crackhead w/ ADD.  He lets the songs shine on their own and keeps his transitions smooth and organic. Very well done. Enjoy!

Tracklist on the Soundcloud page.

INTERVIEW WITH VATO GONZALEZ

Hey guys.  The track above is a new remix from Vato Gonzalez, and it's seriously dope.  I was fortunate enough to get an interview with Vato, and boy is this guy awesome!!  The 28-year-old Dutchman is riding high after his collaboration with Diplo "Rasclat Riddim" and has some new productions on the horizon as well.  Many already know him as the man who started "Dirty House" and he talks about that a bit here.  By far, this is the best interview I've done so far.  Easily the most interesting responses I've ever gotten to my questions and Vato's personality really shines through.  Enjoy!

1) Briefly introduce yourself to my readers and how you got into the music business.
Hi, my name is Björn and I am an alcoh.. whoops, wrong meeting. Ehm, well, let me see how to put this. If flower, eggs and butter make a pancake then Dutch, relentless energy, house and a pinch of hiphop roots would be the recipe for a Vato Gonzalez waffle. Born and raised in the same boring suburb that brought forth Afrojack, where the only thing to make life a little more interesting was making music I guess. I rolled into this business after my friends tossed me over the counter at a local bar after hearing an announcement they were looking for a new DJ. I had been entertaining my teddy bear for a while, so the timing was right to take a new step. After that came a lot of organizing my own events and finally the infamous 'Dirty House' mix tapes, which spread widely across the internet and a new national DJ was born.

2) What unique aspects of EDM draw you to it that you don't find in other types of music?
Approaching music with the same suicidal enthusiasm as a raging lunatic whilst staying void of the concept of genres. I don't make a certain type of music, I just make whatever feels right at the moment. I don't work from templates or default schemes, every time I start a project it's like the first project I make in my life. I've had a lot of people asking me how I produce and what techniques I practice, while in fact I usually haven’t got the vaguest clue of what I'm doing. This all sounds a bit random, but the crowd isn't all too picky when it comes to specific genres - as long as the beat is alright, they'll dance all night! So that is why usually none of my productions sound like the previous ones.

3) What was it like collaborating with Diplo on "Rasclat Riddim"? Who did what and how was it merging your styles and habits?
I had created the basis of ‘Rasclat Riddim’ about a year ago and within 30 minutes after putting it on Soundcloud, I got support from Laidback Luke and Diplo. I got into a conversation with the legendary US DJ and we started looking for some vocals. After a while we found the right ones and with a little hint here and there on the final arrangement, I finished the track at my home studio here in The Netherlands. Working over the internet saved us a lot of air miles and jet lags!

4) You're often credited with starting the "Dirty House" movement which contributed greatly to the rise in popularity of Dutch House.  With so many artists now coming out of the Netherlands, how do you try to continue differentiating yourself and standing out from the crowd?
I started the "Dirty House" movement. There was no such movement before I got fed up with the straight forward boring type of house that was coming out in 2006. The 'Dirty' part refers to the fact that it was an outlawed form of house. It were the bootlegs, the unofficial remixes and the tunes that combined different styles of music that were rocking the clubs - yet the industry completely ignored the 'sound of the streets' as if it were an illegitimate bastard child. We had been spoon fed the same commercial dance and boring 8 minute deep tracks by major artists for years, so I decided to start it as a movement and philosophy. To keep myself from going astray from the original idea, I wrote 'The Dirty House Manifesto'. I was smart enough to realize that one’s vision changes over time as you become more and more removed from your original surroundings, so this manifesto keeps me with my feet on the ground. Even now, 6 years later I differentiate myself by not thinking in genres or what the next artist does - just what I would like to hear myself when I would be standing in the crowd. After all, being an artist is fine and dandy, but if you want to be rocking big crowds you've got to have something that pleases them.

5) If you weren't making music and DJ'ing, what do you think you'd be doing?  Do you ever think a time will come when you'll want to do something else with your life?
Secretly, I want to be a zookeeper. There is something about penguins that would make me laugh myself to certain death at the job! But on the serious trip, I'm not only a DJ/Producer. At the moment I also run an agency (010bookings.com) with 11 artist that we represent worldwide and run 2 record labels. Before my career as an artist was going into the proper direction, I went to university and did a bachelors for graphical media technology and one in software engineering. So unless the world stops using computers, I'll be fine. Beyond that I think I'd go back to Uni and get a degree in psychology to become a full time artist-coach. Managing isn't really my cup of tea, but I've experienced a lot of artist get quite mentally screwed by this industry and could use a little guidance beyond the business.

6) Tell us about your production process.  What sources do you see as your main influences and where do you like to begin work on a track?  What do you do when you hit a wall creatively?
When it comes to producing, I am Commander Chaos! Judgement is the cancer of creativity and at my best I consider myself a Bob Ross of sorts, making happy little bass lines and colouring them VanDyke brown in Logic Pro. The most important part is what has become known as 'the drop', that 4-8 seconds is the beating heart of any production. It is the essence and once that loop is booming, I'll start with the whole break and climax towards the drop. Sort of like writing a book and starting on the last page. Since I'm doing a lot of things at the same time, I just go on to the next project as soon as I hit a wall. Thinking consciously is the worst you can do when it comes to making music, just take a shower and sing for a bit (like you don't.. ) and the best ideas usually come while shampoo just found its way into your eye. My biggest influence is that moment when it gets serious on the floor. That 'moment supreme' where people just go bzerk and lose it. That energy is what I try to reflect in my music.

7) What was your favourite or most memorable moment in your music career?  And by "moment" I really mean anything at all ranging from a gig you played to a song you heard that inspired you or having a major breakthrough in learning to produce/DJ.
The first time I heard one of my oldest tracks being played in a club and people went nuts to it, I was puking rainbows! Later, when I performed for the first time at a really big indoor festival and went from being a shy guy to an on-top-of-the-dj-booth-rage-faced-screaming guy and people went full on bonkers, I felt like I found my calling. It felt like every good feeling you could ever imagine being poured by the truckload into your system. At those moments you feel almost immortal for a second and I have to say, they've become quite the addiction. The funny thing is that all those moments found their roots in two very old mix tapes, which an old friend gave to me when I was 14. There I heard The Prodigy, Cypress Hill and really old dancehall for the first time in my life and it was the best music I had ever heard. It compared to nothing the radio, school or my parents ever showed me and those songs today still inspire me.

8) It's the nature of the music business that even the most-talented, hardest working individuals almost always get some help along the way.  Who or what played a key role in helping you reach where you are today?
I've known Afrojack since he was 5, Hardwell since he was 12 and Nicky Romero from when he was about 17 - all of them way before they went global with their music. Yet, I’ve never felt the urge to try and surf on their waves. I respect them too much as friends to want a piece of their pie. I've always been keen on making my own moves and being the king of my own castle. I hate to be in a situation where somebody else can 'pull the plug' on me. I see my career as a pyramid. It takes an awful lot of stones to make it high, but men fears time - yet time fears the pyramids if you catch my drift. If you get pulled up by someone up high, it's like building your career like a really narrow and long tower. It just takes one unstable piece to bring it to the ground. Obviously, I've learned a lot from the three guys above, but it has been the people that did not believe in me that inspired me the most. I had the complete Dutch music industry against me at some point, because of my Dirty House movement. I've been banned, boycotted and made a fool off for years, but never gave up on my own vision.

9) Which artists would you most like to collaborate with?  Feel free to name anyone at all whether they're a global superstar, recent breakthrough/up-and-comer, or complete unknown.
I'd get in a plane towards the US for a collabo with Timbaland any day, the man is a genius. Beyond that, I've got JME, Tinie Tempah, Akala and the Prodigy on my list and I’ve got a lot of hot collaborations coming up with some amazing artists, but you’ll just have to be patient for those.

10) What was it like for you transitioning from being just a fan listening to EDM to making and playing it professionally?  Do you ever still go to clubs or shows purely as a fan just to hang out in the crowd and watch another DJ perform?
If I wasn't booked all the time, I'd be partying like a maniac. I don't do what I do because I must, I do what I do because I love the music. I cannot stand still when it's on. I'm not the artist you'll find all posh in the VIP section, I'd much rather be on the dance floor enjoying every bit of the music when the right DJ's are at it. Two weeks ago, Diplo was in Amsterdam doing a Major Lazer show. I had a backstage pass and I could have watched the show from the sides of the stage or the VIP. But, where is the fun in that? I got tweets later that night of people being surprised to find me in one massive moshpit, tossing around people like it was a game of darts. I don't think I'm that much different from the people in the crowd, I'm merely the one pressing the button and giving the example.

11) Any upcoming gigs or productions we should be on the lookout for over the summer?
We've got the 'Dirty House Most Wanted' European summer tour coming up, with shows in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece. The festival season is in full effect at the moment, so we've got big things like Tomorrowland (Belgium) and Dance Valley (The Netherlands) on the menu. On the production side you can expect a lot of releases, some of them will be free and also two (2) new mix tapes before July!

12) Lastly, say anything at all that you'd like to tell the people reading this interview.
If you are an artist or want to become one, just go for it. Never take no shit from people telling you that you can't. If you are a fan of the music, follow me on twitter @vatogonzalez or facebook.com/vatogonzalez and if you see me after a show, come and say hi. I will most likely bite, but don't worry. I had my rabies shot last year, so you'll be fine after a few years of plastic surgery.

So as you can see, Vato is a very unique guy withs TONS of personality.  If you ever get a chance to see him live, go do it!

WE OWN THE TROLL RESURRECTION

My friend Eugene Veltman, better known as Huge Euge, came through yet again with a massively raging mashup.  There's enough mix of styles in here to appeal to a lot of people.  It's got some electro, some melody, some vocals...you're gonna love it.  Also, congratulations to Eugene for recently winning the Richard Durand vs. The World competition's North American leg.  His song with Richard will be released May 21st on Blackhole Recordings so be sure to check it out!!

TUNNEL (ORIGINAL MIX)

Hey guys.  I posted a preview for this a few weeks back, and now I present to you the full version of my progressive tech track "Tunnel".  It's kind of dark and deep with a hypnotic droning style.  A friend of mine described it as having a "david tort-ish meets daniel portman feel", a pretty good compliment since they're both awesome producers.  Take a listen.  Download.  Share with your friends.  Enjoy!

RUNAWAY

Vato Gonzalez is at it again with some more moombahton madness.  Following up on his collaboration with Diplo "Rasclat Riddim", the Dutch producer has been kind enough to give this new one away for free.  Big kick, big drums, and mix of dutchy and dubsteppy leads hit hard throughout this banger.  Enjoy!

EMP

Can't write much because I'm in class right now.  Just check out this massive electro rager from Adam K and JELO that came out a couple of weeks ago.  Adam K is one of the most talented and consistently awesome producers on the planet so it's no surprise this track is awesome.  Enjoy.  Buy on Beatport.

My buddy Eugene just put out this killer bootleg of David Guetta's "Titanium".  I'm watching the Rangers game right now so I'm not gonna write much.  Just check it out.  Note that the download in the Soundcloud player is for a WAV file.  I've uploaded an mp3 download below.

DEEP DOWN (LUIGI ROCCA REMIX)

It is simply inhuman for anyone not to like this track.  Luigi Rocca delivered an absolutely fantastic remix of "Deep Down" by J Nitti feat. Shirley Davis that's eerily reminiscent of his also fantastic "Keep on Jumpin" remix from last year.  The percussion is tight and crisp.  The bass line grooves and flows in all the right ways.  The vocals glide in and out smoothly and organically forming a perfect weave with music.  Luigi shows us here how a song can be beautiful and moving with soul and subtlety instead of some cheesy, grandiose vocals and a big, obvious melody (e.g. every Swedish house track made by someone not named John Dahlback).  This is house music done right.  This is why we listen.  This is why we dance.  This is the sort of music mastery every producer should aspire to achieve.  Luigi Rocca deserves to see this track at number one on the Beatport charts, and I've already done my part to make that happen.  Now it's your turn.  Check out the FULL RELEASE from Hotfingers to get your copy and take a listen to the other remixes.  Enjoy!

ONCE UPON A TIME (ADRIEN MEZSI REMIX) PREVIEW

This remix sounds epic!!  Featured on Tiesto's Club Life 264, this new track from Adrien Mezsi is absolutely righteous.  I've always loved the vocals from the original of this track and they're featured on build here in great style.  Very well-incorporated.  They are then followed by a really fantastic beat with a beautiful little melody.  It's awesome.  The full track will be released on May 29th on Subliminal Records.  Enjoy!

MULTIVERSE

So ever since I did that Beyonce remix contest, I've been following this underground producer named Planet Soul, and I think it's time I finally share one of his tracks with you.  This guy or gal or group, whoever they are, are massively talented and their productions are seriously top notch.  Take this nice progressive track "Multiverse" for example.  The whole flow and progression from the intro into the melodic parts of the break into the awesome, hard-hitting drop...it's all superbly done.  Definitely keep your eyes peeled for more of Planet Soul in the future.  The talent they display is simply too great to ignore!

MOONBEAM REMIX COMPETITION SPONSORED BY PER-VURT RECORDS

I've done a track for another remix competition, and I need all of your support to help win.  This time it's for the Russian progressive techno/progressive trance group Moonbeam and it's sponsored by Per-vurt Records.  I'd describe the style of my track as 'minimal funk', and it's completely unique.  I doubt you've heard anything quite like it before.  In order to give my remix the best possible chance of being selected as one of the 3 winners, I need to get as many 'Likes' as possible.  So head over to the Soundcloud page for the song, take a listen, and click 'Like' to vote for me.  Thank you!

MINIMAXX & DJEJ MOOMBA+ RADIO MIX

You may remember MiniMaxX from his 2011 moombahton year mix, which was absolute fire.  Here he teamed up with fellow moombahton DJ/producer DJEJ for another seriously fierce hour of the best moombahton around!  I'm working on getting a tracklist so check back if there are any songs you want to know about.  Alternately you can ask MiniMaxX directly about any of the songs by leaving a comment in the Soundcloud player or posting on his Facebook page.  Enjoy!

SING2ME

Pretty good remix here from Britsh producer Occhi Marroni.  He takes this pure progressive track and gives it an electro edge with a sort of Dutchy lead.  Accompanying the lead are a solid kick an tribal style percussion.  Enjoy this remix and go check out the rest of Occhi's tracks on Soundcloud!

TUNNEL (PREVIEW)

Hey everyone.  My new track "Tunnel" is all finished and I just wanted to share this preview with you.  It's progressive tech track with a deep feel to it.  According to my friend Rich it's like "david tort-ish meets daniel portman" which I take as a pretty good compliment.  I've sent the full track out to a bunch of labels so for now just enjoy the preview and keep your fingers crossed for me!

OPERATOR

Seriously dope track from up-and-comer Michael Texeira.  The beat is pretty fucking wild especially after the whole melodic build up.  Mr. Texeira also somehow managed to weave some of the most random little vocal snippets ever throughout the song in a way that just works lol.  No information on an official release date yet so for now just give it a listen and enjoy!

PETE TONG SPEAKS

Pete Tong has spoken out in the latest issue of Music Week magazine.  While many are enthralled by the rapid growth in popularity of EDM, Pete Tong warns about allowing harmful corporate influence to ruin the music that we love so much.  You can read part of the article here, but you'll need a subscription to view the whole thing.

ROLLING

I'm doing a million things at once right now so I've gotta keep this short.  Released just a week ago, this new track from Adrien Mezsi & Striker is something quite special.  Such a wonderful melody and it all builds up so well.  Check out the preview above, and you can download the full track from Beatport!

NO BEEF

Woooo!!  This track is dope as hell.  Mr. Fuzz really warped this track into something completely new and unlike the original vocal mix, the vocals actually contribute a lot to the song here.  Enjoy!

SEVEN NATION ARMY

Can't write much because I'm in class, but here's something for you to check out.  I posted a preview from Balthazar & JackRock earlier today and here's a bootleg they did of "Seven Nation Army".  Enjoy!

BLOW YA STEREO (PREVIEW)

WHAT?!?!?! <<That is only appropriate reaction to this drop.  The beat on this track is so warped and twisted it's hard to wrap your head around.  I have no idea where the vocals come from but it's some little kid rapping about dancing and blowing ya stereo and somehow it all works together.  Vato Gonzalez will become a regular name in your music library after this, if he's not already.  Make sure to check out the full track which will be released on April 16th by Mixmash Records.

TEENAGE SUPERSTAR DJ

Balthazar and JackRock put together a real banger on their new collaboration "Teenage Superstar DJ", and I'm certain this track is going to be huge!  The beat features a seriously infectious, bouncy groove with a big heavy kick and has some electro-ish elements sprinkled in.  I'm also a big fan of the techy, shuffling percussion that help drive it along.  "Teenage Superstar DJ" will be released April 19th on Bosphorous Underground Recordings so check it out!  These guys also have a bunch of other big tracks coming up and you can check them all out on Soundcloud.

SYNCHRONICE

Well now, here is a bootleg done by Synchronice of Deadmau5's "Sofi Needs a Ladder".  It's predominantly straight electro with some dubsteppy elements and it all flows and combines very nicely.  Enjoy!!

LECHE DE TIGRE VS I HAVE A DREAM

F-F-F-F-F-F-FUNKY!!!!  The words could be a little bit louder here but this is just so dope anyway it doesn't even matter.  DJ Ale Rana mashed up MLK Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech" with the super groovy "Leche De Tigre" by Olivier Giacomotto.  The results are fantastic and you should listen to it lol.  Enjoy!

DAYS AT SEA/LES BAIGNOTS (PREVIEW)

Hey everyone.  Got an email today from Aron Scott with previews for these 2 new tracks of his, and I'm digging them quite a bit.  The first one, "Days At Sea", gives us great little melody in Aron's progressive style, but the main beat, which I love, is distinctly electro-ish.  I really haven't heard something like this from Aron before, and it's great to see him diversifying his style.  The next track is "Les Baignots", and it's style and feel differs greatly from "Days At Sea".  Here, Aron creates a very gentle, almost fragile, progressive house track   .  It's really quite subdued, and I actually find it to be equally as relaxing and soothing and good for just chilling out as it is for banging at a club, which is pretty rare and unique.  These songs will be released on April 16th on Wormland Music's sub-label I LIKE THAT!  Enjoy!

RASCLAT RIDDIM

Oh my.  What do you get when you mix dutchman Vato Gonzalez with all star producer Diplo?  The answer is a mind-boggling, filthy moombahton track.  This track is dark, dirty, sexy, freaky, and weird in all the right ways.  This is the sort of music that makes people wanna fuck on the dance floor.  Enjoy!
Vato Gonzalez & Diplo - Rasclat Riddim (Original Mix)

RUFFNECK (FULL FLEX)

Munchi is a fucking monster!!!  Holy shit this track will seriously eat you alive.  And if you do manage to not get eaten alive, it will melt your face and explode your liver.  Crazy, crazy, crazy moombahton!!  Release coming soon on Skrillex's record label OWSLA, so keep an eye out!

END OF TIME (DJ MARQUEE REMIX)

Hey everyone.  The Beyonce remix contest has been officially over for about a week now and unfortunately I did not win.  But I still had a strong showing and everyone's support was greatly appreciated.  With the contest done I've now made my remix available for download so get your copy!  Also, I'm doing another remix contest and should have the track completed by the end of the week so be ready.  Thanks again everyone and enjoy the remix.

TORRO

What's up folks?  I just got this new release from Maquina Music by ThreeSixty & Dirty Harris and I'm really digging it.  The track's signature is a huge grooving bassline, and they overlay this with some chopped-up vocals and some nice shuffling percussion.  The break then builds up a progressive style melody that holds true throughout the main beat and drives the song from there.  The whole song is a wonderful blend of tech and progressive house that I think should have really broad appeal across all types of fans.  Big thanks to Maquina Music for the free download, and enjoy!

DRUMMABOY

Hello everyone.  I've got a really great cure for your Monday blues, the track "Drummaboy" from Dutch producer Nizzle.  The tracks features a build that starts off sparse with some blips and choppy vocals before hitting you with a big snare roll and then culminating in a really big drop.  I have to get back to studying for an exam so I'll just leave it at that.  Enjoy!

INTERVIEW: DAVID BERRIE

Hey guys.  I've got a nice little interview for you here with David Berrie, known also as just dBerrie.  Dave is a New Jersey native with some great production skills and most definitely a guy quickly rising in dance music community!  I've also got a preview of his upcoming track "Future Bot" so check it out!

1) Let's get the basic stuff out there.  Who are you, where are you from, and how did you get into the music?
Hey my name is David Berrie I'm a dj/producer based out of NYC and I first started getting getting into music by DJing for friends around 14 yrs old.

2) What has been your most memorable moment in music (e.g. DJ gig, performance you've seen, production moment, etc.)?
I'd have to say one of the most memorable moments was first hearing some of my remixes get played on the radio, both satellite and fm.

3) How do you feel about the immense growth in EDM in recent years, most particularly in the U.S.?  Do you have any worries that overexposure may be detrimental?
I think its fair to say that its been great for electronic music on all fronts. There so many sub genres in the scene I think the overexposure will only lead people to dig deeper into the different styles, which is obviously a good thing.

4) Did you have any sort of mentor as you began producing and DJ'ing and what advice would you give for guys and gals who are just starting out?
For DJing my greatest asset was growing up in Jersey 10 mins from the city. Id go out and be able to catch so many different DJs w different styles I pickup up a lot from just watching. As for production I owe all of what I learned to youtube videos and more specifically, Future Music Magazine 'In the studio' DVDs.. Really great.

5) What's your equipment setup like both for DJ'ing and in the studio?  Any particular synths or pieces of hardware that you literally couldn't function without?
For DJing I'm all midi, using 2 X1 Controllers on Traktor 2 with an Audio 8 as my sound card which runs out 4 outputs. And in the studio right now I'm basically 95 percent software, with 'Xfer Nerve' and 'Sylenth1' being some of my most essential tools.

6) For the last two months or so I've been absolutely in love with your track "Change the Light", especially Colin's vocals.  Where did you find such a great talent that most people have never heard of??
Actually funny story my friend from high school just came over with some of his friends from Colgate, Collin being one of them. We just kinda found out we both did music and hit it off from there. Most people I work with i kind of just randomly meet.

7) Now I know most producers have little particular tendencies that make their creative processes unique.  For me, I always like to start with the kick and the bass because I think they're really the foundation for everything else.  What is your creative process like and how do you like to work in the studio?
Depends on the kind of project, but usually ill go for the part thats gonna identify the song the most first. So if its a melody track, ill start with the progression or if its a tech track ill start with the groove, no given formula tho.

8) Name the first things that come to mind for this: 3 most essential items to bring on the road?
Laptop, Sennheiser headphones, 3g Wireless laptop card.

9) I like to ask just about everyone I interview this.  What are your thoughts on the recent trend of guys producing tracks almost exclusively through loops and samples?  How much importance do you place on creating original sounds?
Honestly i don't see that as a trend right now, people have always been doing this and i think its fair game. When it comes down to it, its the end product. But yes if you overuse loops eventually you won't be able to create your own unique style.

10) What upcoming gigs and productions do you have that should we be on the lookout for in 2012?
Month of march will be busy, I have a few dates for spring break in Mexico, doing SXSW in Texas, and of course a bunch of gigs during WMC week in miami. Also I have a lot of new forthcoming singles that will b ready just in time for Miami. You can stay updated ondberrie.com

11) What was your first track ever like and how far do you feel you've progressed since then?
My first track I've ever made was horrible and I probably don't have it anymore. The first track that I posted publicly is actually still on my soundcloud, the kaskade dynasty remix. You can check it out and hear for yourself. soundcloud.com/dberrie

12) Lastly, tell my readers anything at all that you'd like to say.
People that support my music thank you! Lots of new music to come this year so stay tuned!

So that's it's folks.  For those of you going to WMC, definitely be sure to check out Dave's gigs and take a listen below to the preview for his upcoming track "Future Bot".  It's a nice melodic track with a great build and a really great drop so check it out and then head to Facebook or Twitter and show Dave some love!

FUCKING AMAZING

Wooooo!!!  This is groovayyyy!!!  This collaboration between DJ PP and Silversix starts with a nice, funky, chill tech progression that lays the foundation well for what comes after.  And then the trumpet enters, and anyone with the ability to resist that groove is probably in a coma.  It's seriously infectious and incredibly fun.  Take a listen above and then give these guys your support by heading over to Beatport and scooping up a copy for yourself. Enjoy!

Support the artists and buy it!

AFSHEEN MASHUPS

Hey guys.  I recently got a sent a big pack of mash-up bootlegs from producer AFSheen, and they're definitely not too shabby.  I want to highlight my two favorites of the bunch.  The first combines Nero's "Promises" with Michael Woods's "Bullet", and I found myself pretty surprised that these two tracks worked quite well together.  I would've liked to see this mash-up be a bit longer, though, and use the full "Bullet" track, but it's still very good.  The next one can only be described as "awesomely cheesy" lol.  It's a mash-up of Tiesto's "Maximal Crazy" with the 80s rock classic "Final Countdown" by Europe.  He went with the name "Final Maximal" as the official mash-up name though I'm choosing to call it "Maximal Countdown" because I think it sounds better.  Enjoy these two, and if you want to check out the full pack of mash-ups I've provided the link for that as well.

ACTION HERO

I got an email from Yeah!/Dish records with this great EP from Francophilippe.  I'm not a big fan of the remixes, but the two originals on here are absolutely banging!  The title track "Action Hero" is a super funky, disco house smash with a really tight kick, groovy ass bassline, and lots of awesome little stabs and chopped up vocals.  "Monochrome Scanners" is similarly funky and groovy and breaks a bit more from the traditional four-to-the-floor kick pattern.  Bottom line, you will definitely find yourself bobbing your head, dancing in your chain, and enjoying these tunes to the max.  Take a listen in the Soundcloud player and then go grab a free download from Yeah!/Dish's Facebook page!

CHANGE THE LIGHT

Ok so I'm kind of embarrassed because David Berrie sent me this track back in December, and I'm just now posting it lol =X.  In any case, this track is soooooo good.  Absolutely beautiful melody and a great bassline.  It also has some of the nicest, smoothest vocals I have ever heard.  Seriously, this is a vocal performance for the ages by Collin Mcloughlin.  Released on Ultra Records, this is track is a surefire dancefloor killer!  Dave was also nice enough to share a free download through Zippyshare, which is very cool of him, but nonetheless if you want to put some money in the guy's pockets here's the Beatport release.  Enjoy guys!
